10. It's the start of Year of the Rat! Not that I like rats, but the Year of the Golden Pig was last year. And the Year of the Golden Pig is a great year to have kids. Unfortunately, everyone in our ward at church (including us) chose (whether because of the Golden Pig or not) to have kids, leading to far too many children. So here's hoping for fewer kids in 2008.
9. It's Friday - the weekend is mercifully almost here.
8. Valentine's Day is next week. True, you don't get the day off from work, but a holiday is a holiday.
7. Tax refund is on the way. Not only that, but Congress just passed their "Stimulus Package" which will mean another check later in the summer. For the record, I think the "Stimulus" will be pretty ineffective, but I'm happy to get some taxes back.
6. Lost has new episodes all month. And even better, the writer's strike shows signs of ending.
5. Winter is ending. Well at least here in Houston it is - we got up to 70 degrees with sunshine yesterday.
4. Sister in law Melanie is coming to visit next week - we haven't seen her since she left on a mission to Brazil in the summer of 2006.
3. Ron Paul is still running for president. What a trooper.
2. All three kids are now healthy - this is trickier than it sounds.
1. I'm going to see the Magic Flute (opera) tonight with my beautiful wife.
I love that opera! Enjoy it for those of us who will live in a city with operas again someday. For now, we get community theatre starring local children. Hardly Mozart.
ReplyDeleteSo if you take requests for "great ideas", I want to know your thoughts of the office of president being limited to one term...perhaps 6 yrs instead of 4. Would more be accomplished if incumbants didn't have to appear bipartisan in hopes for a 2nd term? Would other branches of govt function more effectively with a more efficient executive office; if indeed such a proposal would make the office more efficient?
